BGCTC Director of Operations Receives Rotary Leadership Award

Shellica Trevino, BGCTC Director of Operations was recognized by Rotary Clubs of Thurston County as one of four community leaders who has given back to their community in a positive way and demonstrating “service above self.” The award was presented at the 2019 Cool Jazz Clean Water event held at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 23, 2019.

Trevino received recognition as a Youth Adult Leader for her work guiding, mentoring, and training adult volunteers to help youth in the community, by making their needs a priority, and nurturing young people as future leaders. Proceeds from the Cool Jazz Clean Water event has funded the Youth Development Training Summit for the past 11 years. The Summit draws over 100 youth development professionals with a full day of high-impact workshops to help train and develop staff and volunteers from youth-serving organizations in Thurston County. A committee comprised of leaders from multiple youth serving organizations plans the event. Shellica has led the committee for several years, and BGCTC has hosted the event for its 11 year history. In addition, Boys & Girls Clubs has a long-standing tradition of collaborating with Thurston County Rotary Clubs.

Trevino has worked in the Boys & Girls Club movement for over 17 years. In 2015, she was promoted to Director of Operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County. In this position, she is able to support all of the Thurston County Clubs, providing leaderships in many areas, including, professional development, program quality, and parent relations.
