South Sound Partners for Philanthropy recognized BGCTC’s BOLTS Keystone/Interact Club at its annual celebration of local giving held Nov. 14. The Keystone/Interact group (B.O.L.T.S) received the Next Generation Philanthropist Award at the event for its extensive volunteer efforts and dedication to the community. The group’s goals center on helping others in the community while building leadership skills and a love for service among its nearly 20 teen members from BGCTC’s Lacey Branch of Boys & Girls Club. The group also raises funds to support other area non-profits.

Over the past five years, BOLTS Keystone/Interact Club teens have raised funds and collected items for multiple organizations. Last year, they collaborated with Gateway Rotary for the Homeless Backpacks Project to provide food for kids in need. They are currently supporting Emmitt’s Rescue by collecting dog food, treats, and toys. Each year these teens volunteer at the Lacey Wal-Mart for Salvation Army bell ringing, Adopt-a-family efforts during the holidays, and glove and sock drives for the homeless.
